Scientific Name: Cupressus sempervirens
Botany: Coniferous plant belonging to the Cupresaceae family, it is a columnar tree with evergreen leaves whose branches are oriented and grouped towards the trunk, it can reach up to 25 m in height and its ovoid fruits turn from green to brown when they mature.
Origin anf History: Originally from Asia and introduced for several centuries in the Mediterranean basin, it is dedicated to the God of death, Pluto. It is an ancient symbol of immortality; Sempervirens means that it lives forever, this explains its ornamental function in cemeteries. In Asia, because it is a tree always upright towards the sky, it is considered as an energy channel that connects Heaven and Earth. Its wood is highly prized for being almost rot-proof and is reserved almost exclusively for making coffins for the Popes. In Iran there is a Cypress tree that is estimated to be older than 4000 years.

Therapeutic Properties: Antispasmodic, antisudoral, antitussive, astringent, circulation promoter, diuretic, venous, prostatic and lymphatic decongestant, antitussive, astringent, vasoconstrictor, pseudohormone, emmenagogue.
Therapeutic Uses: Hemorrhoids, varicose veins, edema of the lower extremities, congestion and prostatic adenoma, infantile enuresis, lymphatic drainage, hydrolipid retention, cellulite, acne, rosacea, varicose veins, spasmodic, dry or whooping cough.
Energetic Aromatherapy: Linked to the Sahasrara Crown Chakra, its color is violet, its element is light.
How to Use:
- By Diffusion: 5 to 10 drops in a diffuser of your preference.
- On the Skin: 3 drops of essential oil + 3 drops of vegetable oil.
- Oral Administration: 2 drops of essential oil mixed with honey, 3 times a day, for coughs.
Employment Precautions:
Flammable. Oral use for medical indication. Keep out of the reach of children. Avoid contact with the eyes. Not recommended for children under 3 years of age, and pregnant or lactating women.
