Scientific Name: Cymbopogon nardus

Botany: Citronella is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Poaceae family, They are grassy, perennial plants that grow in the form of grass and leafy grass with a length of approximately 1 m in height, solid stems and highly aromatic lemon-scented leaves with linear and flattened blades of a bright green.

Origin and History: Citronella has traditionally been applied to culinary use throughout Asia, although its essential oil is mainly composed of citronellal which stands out as a powerful and natural repellent for insects and especially mosquitoes. In Sri Lankan medicine, its leaves were formerly used to heal wounds, today its best known and most effective use is as a repellent. 

Aromatic Biochemistry:
citronellal, citronellol, geraniol, citral, limonene, linalool

Therapeutic Properties: Percutaneous anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, fungicide, deodorant and atmospheric antiseptic, mosquito repellent.

Therapeutic Uses: Arthritis, tendinitis, rheumatism, presence of mosquitoes (preventive) and mosquito bites (curative), excessive perspiration.

Energetic Aromatherapy: Linked to the Manipura Solar Chakra, its color is yellow, its element is fire.
Citronella Ceylan essential oil reduces fears and activates the Solar Chakra.

How to Use: 
- By Diffusion: 5 to 10 drops in a diffuser of your preference.
- On the Skin: 3 drops of essential oil + 1 drop of vegetable oil for mosquitos repellent.
- Oral Administration: 1 drop of essential oil mixed with honey for oral conditions or oral mycosis.

Employment Precautions: 
Flammable. Oral use for medical indication. Keep out of the reach of children. Avoid contact with the eyes. Not recommended for children under 3 years of age, and pregnant or lactating women.
