Scientific Name: Citrus aurantium
Botany: Petitgrain is the essential oil that is extracted from the green leaves and branches of the naranjo, a small fruit tree belonging to the Rustaceae family. It is a medium-sized, perennial tree, with a large, round or pyramidal crown, with oval leaves of between 7 and 10 cm of entire margin and branches sometimes with large thorns, its white flowers, called orange blossom, are born isolated or in clusters and they are extremely fragrant.
Origin and History: The orange is native to India, Vietnam and the southeast of China, although at present, destined for commercial production, it is grown in orange groves throughout the world, although the two largest producers are Brazil and the United States of America. It has been used for hundreds of years in traditional medicine throughout the Mediterranean, India and China to stimulate the immune system. The sweet orange is obtained from the fruit, the orange blossom or Neroli from the flowers and the Petitgrain or bitter orange tree from the leaves and branches, all with similar benefits.

Therapeutic Properties: Anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antispasmodic, healing and skin regenerator, relaxing, sedative and antidepressant.
Therapeutic Uses: Spasmodic coughs, asthma, palpitations, extrasystoles, arrhythmia, muscular contractions of nervous etiology, arthritis, tendinitis, rheumatism, insomnia, stress, mental fatigue, acne, bedsores, sores, excessive sweating.
Energetic Aromatherapy: Linked to the Navel Chakra Svadhisthana, its color is orange, its element is water.
Petitgrain / Bitter Orange essential oil relieves stress, dispels nervousness and restores psycho-emotional balance.
How to Use:
- By Diffusion: 5 to 10 drops in a diffuser of your preference.
- On the Skin: 2 drops of essential oil on the chest and inside of the wrists for insomnia.
ATTENTION: The Petirgain / Bitter Orange is photosensitizing, do not apply to the skin before sun exposure.
- Vía Oral: 2 gotas de aceite esencial mezclada con miel, 2 veces al día, para las palpitaciones y la arritmia.

Flammable. Oral use for medical indication. Keep out of the reach of children. Avoid contact with the eyes. Not recommended for children under 3 years of age, and pregnant or lactating women.
